Maria is a choreographer and dance teacher based at London’s Pineapple Studios. She works across stage and screen in a variety of styles. She enjoys making expressive dance with a strong narrative drive, and loves working as part of a theatrical team.

After completing a degree in politics at Cambridge University, Maria performed and taught alongside a successful career in publishing (writing for magazines including Esquire, Dazed and Confused, and The Face). Now Maria focuses on choreographic work in contemporary dance, opera and musical theatre, and on film. Her credits include BBC Drama, Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Opera Holland Park. In 2017, Maria was selected, from over 700 applicants, to create a new dance work for Ignition Choreographer’s Platform at The Rose Theatre, Kingston. She is currently developing new work at Studio Wayne McGregor, as one of its FreeSpace choreographers.

Maria’s choreography draws on a wide range of dance skills. As well as contemporary, jazz and ballet, Maria uses tap, acrobatics, ballroom and latin, tango, and swing.
