Maria is a choreographer and dance teacher based at London’s Pineapple Studios. As a choreographer, she works across stage and screen in a variety of styles. She makes expressive dance with a strong narrative drive, and loves working as part of a theatrical team. As a teacher, Maria specialises in contemporary, jazz, and dance for older adults.

After completing a degree in politics at Cambridge University, Maria performed and taught alongside a successful career in publishing (writing for magazines including Esquire, Dazed and Confused, and The Face). Now, Maria focuses on choreographic work in contemporary dance, opera and musical theatre, and on film. Her credits include BBC Drama, Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Opera Holland Park. In 2017, Maria was selected from 700 applicants, to create a new dance work for Ignition Choreographer’s Platform at The Rose Theatre, Kingston. She is developing new work at Studio Wayne McGregor, as a FreeSpace choreographer.

Maria has significant experience as an arts administrator, working for DanceWest in 2018-2019 as Community Projects Manager.
